Digital Evolution From Huntsman Textile Effects

June 13th, 2011

The quest for digital excellence is on. The theme at this year’s FESPA Europe is evolution, and in order to continually evolve, the dynamic amongst us must stay in touch with change, technology and opportunity. Textile Effects has throughout its history been renowned for being dynamic, innovative and consistently evolving. Our cost cutting industrial digital printing concepts are keeping track of the times as digital printing moves to the next level towards becoming a viable alternative to screen printing.

When it comes to banners and signage, anything that requires truly radiant colors for high visibility, there is no match for our TERASIL® BRITE inks for direct-to-textile printing and transfer printing. TERASIL®  BRITE is a new generation of sublimation inks engineered for truly brighter, deeper colors on direct-to-textile prints.

The market for high resolution digital printing at high speeds is taking off with a number of machine makers producing industrial scale digital machines that match traditional flat bed printing technology. Huntsman Textile Effects has been working closely with these manufacturers, and we have risen to the challenge and have developed a line up of inks for every need, fiber or fabric. NOVACRON®  XKS for reactive printing of cellulosics, LANASET®  XKS for polyamide and silk, TERASIL®  XKS for polyester and the latest addition is the ERIOFAST®  XKS single ink range for printing polyamide, silk and cellulosic fibers at high speeds using the latest digital technology – a one machine investment with the capability of printing multiple fibers with an ink set.

What all our products deliver is smooth runnability, high reliability, reproducibility and compatibility with the latest industrial print heads.

Huntsman Textile Effects offers the complete range of inks required to print on all textile fibers and has the capability to modify ink ranges to suit individual print heads and machines. The ability to modify inks for different printing systems coupled with expert textile processing know how achieved through our long experience in traditional printing can greatly assist traditional printing companies in making a move to digital.

Coloranti AVITERA SE

Water and energy savings of 50% and more!

Singapore, November 1,2010 - New AVITERA™ SE reactive dyes, together with ERIOPON® LT clearing additive, provide an exceptionally low-temperature, low resources consumption processing system for cellulosic fibers and their blends. Temperatures that never exceed 60°C, combining with short dyeing and washing-off cycles drastically reduce water consumption, save time, energy and cut carbon dioxide emissions.

“This ground-breaking new technology, which allows water and energy savings of 50% and more, is an opportunity for mills, brands and retailers to make a real difference,” says Stephen Gray, Vice-President Research & Technology. “AVITERA™ SE dyes and ERIOPON® LT have a unique set of properties that ensure much lower processing costs, yet high-quality results and greatly improved environmental acceptability. All of these benefits make a key contribution to sustainability in textile processing.”

High solubility allow AVITERA™ SE dyes to be applied at ultra-short liquor ratios and ensure much lower processing costs. With their outstanding compatibility and low sensitivity to dyeing parameters, the dyes give excellent lab-to-bulk and bulk-to-bulk shade reproducibility, minimizing reprocessing.

The first three dyes to be introduced, AVITERA™ SE Yellow, Red and Deep Blue, form a highly compatible system that provides a wide choice of medium to dark shades. The range is to be expanded with dyes for pale and very deep shades.

ERIOPON® LT low-temperature clearing additive is especially designed for AVITERA™ SE dyeings on cellulosic fibers and their blends. Unfixed and hydrolyzed dyes can be washed off in record time at 60°C, yet today’s wash and wet fastness requirements are met.

AVITERA™ SE dyeing technology can achieve still further improvements in terms of results, sustainability and cost management in conjunction with Huntsman’s GENTLE POWER BLEACH™. This novel pretreatment system uses breakthrough enzyme technology for dependable, low-temperature bleaching at neutral pH. Lower treatment and rinsing temperatures enable water and energy consumption during pretreatment to be reduced by as much as 40%.

Marks & Spencer has trialled the AVITERA™ SE & ERIOPON® LT technology with one of their key suppliers and it has found the results very encouraging. A spokesperson for M&S said “The trial results demonstrated the potential that AVITERA™ SE & ERIOPON® LT have for reducing water and energy use, improving productivity as well as ensuring high quality results. We believe that this type of technology will help our suppliers deliver our Plan A* aspirations for improving the sustainability of the textile supply chain.

Here’s a chance for all to make a real difference and preserve the environment with AVITERA™ SE & ERIOPON® LT.www.huntsman.com

Huntsman Textile Effects Introduces NOVACRON® Deep Black MI-2000

January 17th, 2009

Designed to bridge the gap of solid deep black shades in digital printing with reactive inks, NOVACRON Deep Black MI-2000 is the latest addition to Huntsman’s highly successful NOVACRON MI range. Using cutting edge MCT chemistry, the Huntsman inkjet group has created an ecological water-based ink for high-speed printing on cotton, viscose and silk that covers today’s market requirements for a reliable and shade stable deep black ink. Prior to launch, NOVACRON Deep Black MI-2000 was successfully tested under industrial conditions on a range of MIMAKI JV5 type plotters at reputed digital printing companies. The results showed excellent runability and shade stability with no impact on the print head life cycle. The new NOVACRON Deep Black MI-2000, which is based on Huntsman’s chemistry for reactive inks and sets, new benchmark for solid and stable black shades for printing on cotton, viscose or silk. The NOVACRON MI range is a step forward to facilitating the transition from screen printing to a more ecological, less natural resource consuming and sustainable digital printing method.

Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals

August 7th, 2008

The new EU chemicals regulation REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) came into effect on June 1 2007. REACH requires that the chemical industry registers all existing and new substances with the European Chemicals Agency (ECA) in Helsinki, Finland. About 30,000 existing substances will need to be registered within the 11 year “phase-in period.”

Huntsman is well prepared for REACH and welcomes its objectives of ensuring adequate protection of human health and the environment, which are consistent with our own corporate philosophy. Huntsman’s EHS team, together with our industry partners in the European Chemical Industry Federation (CEFIC), has been closely monitoring the development of REACH since the White Paper was published in February 2001.

The timetable for REACH requires that pre-registration of substances takes place, between June 1 2008 and November 30 2008. There has been, as expected, no disruption when REACH entered into force in June 2007 and Huntsman will be working very closely with our suppliers and customers to ensure that all raw material substances that we purchase are pre-registered and that all substances that we manufacture and import for customers are pre-registered – thereby ensuring continuity of our business and of our customers’ businesses.
